ABOUT US

LÉDA hail from Balla, Co Mayo & the Shetland Isles respectively and are now based in Glasgow. The duo features both Éadaoin Ní Mhaicín, a multi-award winning instrumentalist who holds a staggering amount of world titles and Amy Laurenson was recently named BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2023.

LÉDA hail from Balla, Co Mayo & the Shetland Isles respectively and are now based in Glasgow. The duo features both Éadaoin Ní Mhaicín & Amy Laurenson. LÉDA were formed in 2022 with Emily Jean Flack, now based in Toronto and for the next chapter was joined by Amy in 2023. Éadaoin is a multi-award winning multi-instrumentalist who holds a staggering amount of world titles on all instruments. After releasing her first singles she managed to achieve two world music number #1’s on the iTunes Charts in Ireland.

 

Rooted in the traditional music of Shetland, Amy explores the music of her homeland alongside traditional and folk music from Scotland, Ireland and Scandinavia. Amy was recently named BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2023 at Celtic Connections and is a lecturer in Piano and Traditional Music at RCS Juniors.

Between them they have travelled the world playing music and appeared on world leading stages such as Broadway, Aviva Stadium, Croke Park, RDS, Marley Park, National Concert Hall in Dublin and The Barbican Theatre in London to China, Canada and Finland to name but a few.

 

Their first single ‘Oh Honey’ hit number 2 on the Singer/Songwriter iTunes Charts in Ireland and was played on RTE One, BBC Ulster and BBC Scotland to name a few. Their debut EP was released in July and was awarded ‘Album of the Week’ by Marty Whelan on RTÉ Radio.

LÉDA combine to create something truly special and are an act not to be missed! Éadaoin and Amy have collaborated in creating newly composed music, a fusion of folk and traditional with the Irish and Shetland influence weaving its way through the intricate sounds leaving the listener spellbound.
